When a customer makes a purchase using their enrolled debit card, the transaction total is rounded to the nearest next whole dollar amount. The rounded-up amount from the everyday, one-time debit card purchase is automatically transferred to the linked savings account. Transactions are aggregated throughout the day and will post as one transaction per business day to the designated savings account.
For example, a purchase is made for $10.40, the transaction will automatically round up to $11.00. The vendor will receive the $10.40, while the remaining $0.60 will be added to the total round up deposit for the day.
If the transaction is a whole dollar amount, for example $7.00, no round-up is processed.
If there are not sufficient funds in the checking account memo ledger balance to cover the debit transaction to the savings account, the transfer will not occur.
Accounts owned by minors (ages 11-17) and business accounts are not eligible.
Customers can enroll in the Debit Card Round Up at the time of account opening or by contacting a Banker at 217-875-3131 during business hours.
Upon enrollment, all debit cards linked to the enrolled checking account will round up transactions. For example, if a husband and wife are joint on a checking account and both have a debit card, transactions from both debit cards will be included in the daily aggregated round up transfer. The total for all debit card transactions for the day, regardless of the card holder, is aggregated into one debit from the check and deposit to the savings account.
The program is designed to round up everyday, one-time credit card purchases using a Hickory Point Bank debit card. If no linked debit card is associated with a checking account, and the customer does not wish to order a new card, Opt Out should be selected for Debit Card Round Up.
Consumer checking accounts, however accounts owned by minors (ages 11-17) and business accounts are not eligible.
Debit Card Round Up deposits will automatically transfer to the linked savings account each business day.
Money market and business accounts are not eligible for Debit Card Round Up deposits.
To cancel enrollment, customers can contact a Banker at 217-875-3131 during business hours.
There is no fee for the Debit Card Round Up Program or enrollment. Debit Card Round Up program enrollment does not impact fees such as minimum balance fees on associated checking and savings accounts.
